Jon Stewart pressed Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on "The Daily Show" about having Republicans' Liz and Dick Cheneys' endorsements for the Democratic presidential ticket.
"The Cheney thing, do we really have to do that?" Stewart asked Walz in an interview that aired on Monday.
"Look, it goes broader than that," Walz responded. "Look, Bernie Sanders, Dick Cheney, Taylor Swift."
Stewart protested with a series of "no"s:
Walz started, "Having the Cheney's on board —"
"No, you can't Dick Cheney or Taylor Swift," "The Daily Show" host continued. "No!"
"We're a big tent," the Minnesota governor offered.
"What country did Taylor Swift get us to invade?" Stewart asked. "No!"
Walz later said, "I think Liz Cheney and Dick Cheney give permission to those folks who want to find a reason to do the right thing."
"It doesn't mean they agree with us," the Democratic candidate for vice president continued. "We're not going to take their foreign policy decisions and discussions, you know, and implement those."
"Promise?" Stewart asked.
"Yes, promise," Walz said, laughing.
