Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Thursday evening roasted his political rivals at the usually lighthearted Al Smith Dinner.
“There's a group called ‘White Dudes for Harris,’” Trump said at the Catholic charity dinner. “I'm not worried about them at all because their wives and their wives' lovers are all voting for me.”
“The only piece of advice I would have for [Kamala Harris], in the event that she wins, would be not to let her husband Doug anywhere near the nannies,” he said. “Just keep him away.”
The annual Catholic white-tie dinner in New York City, which is meant to raise funds for charity, has become a ritual in American politics in which politicians from both parties attend and trade jabs in good fun. But Trump took a more pointed approach:
“Look on the bright side, Chuck [Schumer]: Considering how woke your party has become, if Kamala loses, you still have a chance to become the first woman president,” Trump said as he spoke next to the Democratic Senate majority leader.
“I used to think the Democrats were crazy for saying that men have periods, but then I met Tim Walz,” Trump said about the Democratic vice presidential nominee.
“Bill de Blasio was actually able to make it tonight. He was a terrible mayor,” the Republican said about New York City’s last mayor, who he butted heads with at times while in office. “I don't give a shit if this is comedy or not.”
