White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Wednesday said President Joe Biden agrees with former Trump chief of staff John Kelly's assessment that Donald Trump is a fascist.
"Just to be clear, when you said, ‘We do agree,’ President Biden believes that Donald Trump is a fascist?" a reporter asked.
"I mean, yes," Jean-Pierre replied. "He said himself — the former president has said he is going to be a dictator on day one. We cannot ignore that. We cannot. And we cannot ignore or forget what happened on January 6, 2021."
The press secretary commented on General John Kelly, who served in Trump's White House as his chief of staff, warning in a New York Times interview Tuesday that Trump would rule like a dictator. Kelly also assessed that Trump met the definition of a fascist.
Jean-Pierre also responded to Kelly saying that Trump praised Hitler and wanted his generals to be similar to the German dictator's.
"To be praising Adolf Hitler is dangerous, and it's also disgusting," the White House press secretary said.
