Kamala Harris, for the first time, says she believes Trump is a fascist

Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris during a CNN town hall Wednesday agreed with assessments from John Kelly and others that Donald Trump is a fascist.

“You've quoted General [Mark] Milley calling Donald Trump a fascist. You yourself have not used that word to describe him,” CNN anchor Anderson Cooper asked Harris during a town hall in Chester Township, Pennsylvania. “Do you think Donald Trump is a fascist?”

“Yes, I do. Yes, I do,” the vice president said.

Harris during the beginning of her presidential campaign mostly avoided using harsh language to describe Trump’s perceived threats to democracy, but she has ramped up attacks as Election Day nears. She argued that Trump’s former officials — such as Kelly, his former chief of staff, who earlier this week called Trump a fascist and confirmed reports that Trump has praised Hitler — calling out his ability to lead and deeming him a threat to democracy was damning.

“I also believe that the people who know him best on this subject should be trusted,” Harris said. “These are not people — with the exception, I think, of only Mike Pence — these were not politicians. These are career people who have served in the highest roles in national security, who have served as generals in our military, who are highly respected, talking about the person who would be commander-in-chief.

“Not to mention what we know and what they've told us about how he talks about the military, servicemen and women, referring to them as ‘suckers’ and ‘losers’; how he demeans people who have taken an oath to sacrifice their life for our country.”
