"This is Federal Prisoner 05635509": Steve Bannon hosts his show before reporting to federal prison.

Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon on Monday morning reported to prison — but he made sure to host his show beforehand.

“It's Monday, 1, July, in the year of our Lord 2024. This is Federal Prisoner 05635509,” Bannon said on his “War Room” show, which he broadcast from Danbury, Connecticut, where he is now serving his sentence.

The far-right media personality is starting a four-month sentence for contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena from the House January 6th committee that investigated the insurrection.

Bannon proudly turned his prison report date into special live programming, hosting his show and a rally on the side of the road outside the prison before he went inside. A small group of supporters, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, joined Bannon for the rally, as a small group of protesters shouted, “Lock him up!” and “traitor!”

Bannon referred to himself as a “political prisoner,” and said Donald Trump was “very supportive” of him. He also slammed Democrats, and boasted that his sentence was “nothing” compared to Trump’s potential prison sentence for falsifying business records in New York.

“I am proud of going to prison,” Bannon said.
