Biden: "Everyone who willfully denies the impacts of climate change...is really, really dumb or has some other motive."

President Joe Biden on Tuesday called climate change deniers "really dumb" during remarks about extreme weather.

"It's not only outrageous, it's really stupid," Biden said at the Washington, D.C., emergency operations center. "Everyone who willfully denies the impacts of climate change is condemning the American people to a dangerous future, and either is really, really dumb or has some other motive."

Biden gave the speech after and he and his Cabinet members received a briefing about extreme weather across the country. The president also proposed new protections for an estimated 36 million workers who will face harsh heat on the job.

"Unfortunately, my predecessor and the MAGA Republicans in Congress are trying to undo all this progress," the president said. "They deny climate change even exists. They must be living in a hole somewhere at the expense of health and safety of their own constituents."

Biden's remarks come as Oregon and California are about to experience soaring temperatures, and Hurricane Beryl strengthened into a Category 5 storm in the Caribbean on Monday night.

"Every single congressional Republican voted against the investments, which created these jobs to combat climate change," Biden continued. "Many of them are trying to repeal those climate provisions and kill those jobs."

"How can you deny there's climate change, for God's sake?" Biden declared.
