Steve Bannon receives a blessing from a priest before he surrenders to a federal prison for defying Jan. 6 subpoena.

Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon on Monday morning received a blessing from a priest at a rally before he began his prison sentence.

“I want to give you a blessing before you go in. … Bow your head and pray for God's blessing,” the priest said before he started blessing the far-right media personality in Latin outside the prison in Danbury, Connecticut.

Bannon is starting a four-month sentence for contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena from the House January 6th committee that investigated the insurrection.

Bannon referred to himself as a “political prisoner,” and even hosted his “War Room” show from Danbury just before he surrendered himself to the Bureau of Prisons.

Bannon, who said Donald Trump was “very supportive” of him, slammed Democrats and boasted that his sentence was “nothing” compared to Trump’s potential prison sentence for falsifying business records in New York.

“I am proud of going to prison,” Bannon said.

A small group of supporters, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, joined Bannon for the rally, as a small group of protesters shouted, “Lock him up!” and “traitor!”
