Martha’s Vineyard residents hug Venezuelan migrants sent by Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) as they board buses to Cape Cod.

Martha’s Vineyard residents and the Venezuelan migrants sent in a political stunt by the Republican governor in Florida, Governor Ron DeSantis, shared hugs and smiles as the migrants moved onto the next leg of their journey. The migrants are headed on buses to Joint Base Cape Cod to be better assisted due to the lack of resources on Martha’s Vineyard. It is reported that many of the migrants who were dropped off in Martha’s Vineyard were misled as to where they were going and what awaited them. This move by Governor DeSantis is part of a string of similar moves made by republican governors in southern states. These southern republican governors have been transporting migrants to sanctuary cities in northern states. Recently, the mayor of Washington, D.C., announced that Texan Governor Greg Abbott had sent over 9,000 migrants to the city, recently having bused 100 migrants to Vice President Kamala Harris’s residence. The republican governors are taking these actions in an effort to criticize the Biden administration’s handling of immigration.
