“I remember back when he was saying ‘anytime, anyplace’”: Buttigieg mocks Trump saying he won’t do another debate.

Federal transportation secretary and Kamala Harris surrogate Pete Buttigieg on Thursday mocked Donald Trump saying he will not participate in another presidential debate.

Trump in the evening said he will not debate Harris again this year, claiming it was “too late” and arguing he doesn’t need another one since he won his faceoff with his Democratic opponent.

But Buttigieg offered a different explanation:

“I remember back when he was saying, ‘anytime, anyplace.’ What changed of course is, he got beat. He doesn’t like being beat. He doesn’t like being embarrassed,” he said in an interview with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins.

When Collins asked whether he thought Trump would waver on that promise and end up debating Harris again, Buttigieg said, “Hard to say. There may come a point where the dynamics build against him, and he decides he needs to do something, anything, to shift attention from her winning message. Maybe that would motivate him to change his strategy. I'm beyond trying to predict what his strategy will be in the future.

“What I do know is, it was a great night for her and it was a really rough night for him.”
