Gov. Tate Reeves (R-MS) provides an update to Jackson residents amid the city’s water crisis: “Do not drink the water."

On Thursday, September 1, Governor Tate Reeves (R-MS) provided an update to Jackson, Mississippi residents amid the city’s water crisis.

Reporter: “Well, what do you say to Jackson residents about whether they can now drink the water, use the water to brush their teeth?”

Governor Reeves: “Do not drink the water. Do not use the water to brush your teeth. If you're going to drink the water, please boil it. There has been a boil water notice on in the city for quite some time, that has not changed. The State Department of Health makes those decisions, not me. But I have not been told by anyone that it is okay to drink the water as it is coming out of the pump.”

The National Guard is in Jackson, Mississippi, to help distribute clean water to residents. Residents have been without clean water after the main water treatment facility began failing Monday following flooding.
