Gov. Jim Justice (R-WV) announces he has signed a near-total abortion ban into law: "It is absolutely done.”

The republican governor in West Virginia, Governor Jim Justice, announced he had signed a near-total abortion ban into law. The law bans nearly all abortions except in cases involving rape or incest and in certain medical situations where the mother’s life is in danger. The caveat with the abortion allowance for rape or incest is that the case must have been reported to law enforcement in order for the person to qualify for an abortion. This is the second non-trigger abortion law to go into effect since the overturning of Roe v. Wade this past summer.

JUSTICE: “The final piece of legislation was the passage of the bill that I call that “protects life”. Many people refer to it as an “abortion bill”. It has come to my desk and I want to tell you right now exactly, I've done exactly what I said I would do. I've signed it. It's done. It is absolutely done. You know and with that, it will go up today and later today, you know, it will go up to the different channels that is that it flows.”
