"[Biden] was cognitively impaired": Leavitt defends Trump's suggestion that Biden's pardons are "void" due to autopen.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt argued on Monday that President Donald Trump suggested that former President Joe Biden's pardons are "void" due to autopen use because Biden was "cognitively impaired."

"Have attorneys here at the White House told President Trump that he has the legal authority to undo a pardon simply because it was signed by autopen, as he said?" CNN's Kaitlan Collins asked the press secretary.

Early Monday on Truth Social, Trump claimed that Biden's preemptive pardons, including for members to the House January 6th committee, were "VOID" because they were done by autopen.

"The president was begging the question that I think a lot of journalists in this room should be asking, about whether or not the former president of the United States, who I think we can all finally agree was cognitively impaired," Leavitt responded.

"The president was raising the point that did [Biden] even know about these pardons?" the White House press secretary questioned. "Was his legal signature used without his consent or knowledge?"

The use of the autopen isn't new and appears to have been first used to sign a bill into law at the executive level by former President Barack Obama in 2011.

"Is there any evidence on that, that [Biden] wasn't aware of it?" Collins pressed.

"You're a reporter," Leavitt said. "You should find out."
