Trump held in civil contempt for failing to turn over documents in NY AG Letitia James’ civil fraud investigation.

Former President Donald Trump was held in civil contempt Monday for failing to turn over the documents in New York Attorney General Letitia James’ civil fraud investigation.

Judge Arthur Engoron of the New York State Supreme Court said today that the ex-president was held in civil contempt and will be fined $10,000 every day until the terms of the subpoena are met.

The former president was held in civil contempt as the New York Attorney General’s office claimed that he did not comply with a subpoena for documents which was a part of its investigation into Trump’s company.

They said that the documents are essential for them to complete the investigation and would come up with a deadline for it. They said that they could be forced to take enforcement action because of this looming deadline.

While the NY AG’s office said that Mr. Trump did not produce any document related to the subpoena, Alina Habba, Trump’s attorney said that he complied and there were no more documents left to be produced.
