“I’m not here to say I told you so”: Kamala Harris jokes about the state of the U.S. amid grumblings about Trump.

Kamala Harris, the former Democratic vice president and presidential candidate, on Thursday jokingly said she would not say “I told you so” amid complaints about President Donald Trump, the man who defeated her in the 2024 election.

“There is a sense of fear that has been taking hold in our country. And I understand it. But we’re seeing people stay quiet. We are seeing organizations stay quiet. We are seeing those who are capitulating to clearly unconstitutional threats. And these are the things that we are witnessing each day in these last few months in our country,” Harris said at the Leading Women Defined Summit in Dana Point, California, an event meant to empower women of color.

“It understandably creates a great sense of fear, because, you know, there were many things that we knew would happen. Many things — I’m not here to say I told you so,” Harris added, before she laughed and the crowd cheered.

Harris’ comments come as Trump’s polling numbers have dipped since his election win, particularly on his handling of the economy as the stock markets have been rattled by his tariffs and trade war.
