Throwback: Interview With Rams GM Les Snead

Before Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead brought home a Super Bowl ring, he had the equal honor of being a guest on The Long Game with LZ & Leitch. Snead’s Rams were in their bye week after two straight losses when he joined the hosts in November 2021.

As he told Will and LZ at the time, he and the team made a real effort “not to ruminate” on those losses. It appears that that worked out well — as did another element of the Rams’ strategy: signing established talents like wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. rather than nurturing promising rookies. Some teams may have their sights set on developing players in order to win trophies a few years from now. “There’s definitely levels of contending,” Snead says. But it’s simple: “Winning is the cure-all for everything,” including in the present.

Snead also talked about managing high profile players; the pros and cons of his absence from social media; and a special mug with a few choice words on it, gifted to him by his kids.
