Tennis legend Boris Becker has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison for hiding over $3 million to avoid paying debts.

Becker, 54, wore a grey suit, white shirt, and a striped tie in the Wimbledon colors of green and purple when the jury found him guilty of four charges under the Insolvency Act at London’s Southwark Crown Court, today. He was cleared on 20 counts.

The three-time Wimbledon champion was found guilty of transferring hundreds of thousands of pounds from his business account and failing to declare the property he owned in his hometown of Leimen, Germany.

He was also convicted of hiding more than $80,000 of bank loans and 75,000 shares in a tech firm.

The six-time grand slam winner denied breaking the UK Insolvency Act after declaring bankruptcy in 2017.

Becker was declared bankrupt which meant that he was legally obliged to disclose all his assets so that his trustee could distribute the available funds to his creditors to whom he owed around $60 million.
