Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Tuesday officially announced Silicon Valley lawyer and investor Nicole Shanahan as his running mate.
“I wanted someone with a spiritual dimension and compassion and idealism and above all a deep love for the United States of America. And I found all of those qualities in a woman who grew up right here in Oakland,” Kennedy said. “The daughter of immigrants who overcame every daunting obstacle and went on to achieve the highest levels of the American dream. So that is why I'm so proud to introduce to you the next Vice President of the United States — my fellow lawyer, a brilliant scientist, technologist, a fierce warrior mom, Nicole Shanahan.”
Shanahan, a 38-year-old first-time candidate, joins the 2024 presidential race largely unknown to the public outside of the tech world. She was an early supporter of Kennedy’s presidential campaign, backing him as early as last year while he was still running in the Democratic primary.
