Donald Trump on Tuesday called Sunday's Madison Square Garden campaign rally, which featured racist and sexist rhetoric, "an absolute love fest."
"It was like a love fest, an absolute love fest," Trump said during remarks at Mar-a-Lago. "And it was my honor to be involved."
The Madison Square Garden rally drew criticism for having speakers with offensive remarks, including comedian Tony Hinchcliffe comparing Puerto Rico to an “island of garbage."
"Nobody's ever had love like that," Trump said, referring to the rally. "That was love in the room. And it was love for our country."
Trump also combatted comparisons to the 1939 Nazi rally that occurred at the same venue as Sunday's rally.
"And they started to say, 'Well, in 1939, the Nazis used Madison Square Garden,'" Trump started. "You know what — can you imagine? 1939, the Nazis. But how terrible to say, right."
"Because, you know, they've used Madison Square Garden many times," the Republican nominee for president said. "Many people have used it. But nobody's ever had a crowd like that."
