NY AG Letitia James ahead of Donald Trump’s testimony in civil fraud trial: “Numbers, my friends, don’t lie.”

Former president Donald Trump’s New York trial for financial fraud in his real estate business has reached a new stage, as the former president takes the stand.

New York Attorney General Letita James, who launched a lawsuit against The Trump Organization for financial fraud, and has been the subject of attacks by former president Trump that she has described as “race-baiting,” spoke to the press.

She said she expected the former president would “engage in name-calling, and taunts, and race-baiting, and call this a witch-hunt,” but said the simple fact she was going to prove was that he had “misrepresented and inflated the value of his assets.”

Trump arrived in New York and told the press that the trial was “ridiculous” and “election interference” and emphasized that he’s leading the polls. He then called AG Letitia James, who is New York’s first Black attorney general, “a racist attorney general who made some terrible statements.”

Trump is also at odds with Judge Engoron, who is overseeing the case and with whom he was already argued.
