President Donald Trump responded to his administration’s group chat leak fiasco by calling Jeffrey Goldberg, The Atlantic editor-in-chief who was accidentally added to the Signal thread on Houthi strikes and reported on it, a “loser.”
"Goldberg’s a loser. His magazine’s a big loser,” Trump said in an interview with Newsmax that aired Tuesday night.
“And what it was, we believe, is somebody that was on the line with permission of somebody that was with [National Security Advisor] Mike Waltz, worked for Mike Waltz at a lower level, had I guess Goldberg’s number or call through the app. And somehow this guy ended up on the call,” the president explained to host Greg Kelly.
“Now, it wasn’t classified, as I understand it. There was no classified information. There was no problem. And the [Yemen] attack was a tremendous success. So I can only go by what I’ve been told,” Trump continued.
“I wasn’t involved in it, but I was told by — and the other people weren’t involved at all. But, I feel very comfortable, actually,” the president added.
The interview took place before The Atlantic published the full Signal chat Wednesday morning.
