President Joe Biden took shots at Donald Trump’s numerous legal issues, including his civil sexual abuse case and his hush money conviction, during their first 2024 presidential debate Thursday evening.
During their debate on CNN in Atlanta, the presumptive Republican and Democratic presidential nominees, clashed over felony convictions — Trump’s New York criminal conviction for falsifying business records and Biden’s son Hunter’s criminal gun conviction. After Trump criticized Biden for his son’s conviction and said he was involved in criminal business dealings with Hunter, Biden took aim at Trump’s legal problems — including being found liable for sexually abusing writer E. Jean Carroll and being convicted for his hush-money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.
“The idea that I did anything wrong relative to what you're talking about is outrageous,” Biden said. “The crimes that you are still charged with — and think of all the civil penalties you have. How many billions of dollars do you owe in civil penalties for molesting a woman in public? For doing a whole range of things? Of having sex with a porn star on the night while your wife was pregnant? I mean, what are you talking about? You have the morals of an alley cat.”
