Demi Lovato, speaking to Apple Music host Zane Lowe, says friends she met while undergoing rehab treatment inspired her new songs: “I wanted to make an anthem for everyone that I knew.”

LOWE: I mean, you've talked about rehab and things before, but this is a different thing.

LOVATO: I wanted to make, you know, I left treatment with incredible friends. Each time that I've gone. And I've gone in several times, that's not a secret. But each time I've left with Incredible friends, incredible insight …and … into who they are, and how we all struggled were one and the same. And I wanted to make an anthem for everyone that I knew, everyone I don't know. And for myself about this is what addiction is. Like, the bridge is “I'm your mother. I'm your father, I'm just a product of the problem” you know, it's like and I may have those out of order but…”
