After a brief “will he won’t he” turnaround in the news cycle, it’s official: Tom Brady is retiring. LZ and Will run through the NFL quarterback’s string of individual and team accomplishments, including most regular season and playoff wins for a starting QB, most passing yards and passing touchdowns, and launching the New England Patriots from its reputation as “the lousy Boston sports franchise” to Super Bowl juggernaut (six rings, baby). In fact, Brady has more Super Bowl wins than any individual franchise, having won a seventh championship just last year with his last team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It all adds up to make Brady not just the greatest NFL player ever, but “quite possibly the greatest American athlete ever,” in Will’s estimation. Surrounding all that, the hosts also talk about how Brady’s public perception has shifted over his years of unmatched success, and his brushes with controversy over “Spygate” and “Deflategate.”
