Actor John Boyega, most well known for his role in Star Wars, comments on people being upset that a Black woman is playing Ariel in "The Little Mermaid." Recently, there have been intense debates on the internet about Halle Bailey, a black woman, portraying the mermaid Ariel, who has traditional been portrayed by solely white woman.
BOYEGA: “It just reflects about how they would love the world. I mean, what the, the world that will be good for them and you know, if you put the hair, that's too tough in their movies, they go “Oh my god, I feel so intimidated by it, I don't know what to do about,” and it gets to be a big frenzy and I think this time, for her especially because the big Disney, you know how it is - they probably gonna have to change the merchandise and make Arial brown on the plush toys and stuff. We have to celebrate what that is for her you know, and it's a big, it’s a big move.”
