A mom speaks at the House GOP's "Commitment to America" agenda rollout, as Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy nods along.

A mom spoke about her fear of Critical Race Theory and Social Emotional Learning programs in schools, calling them “Marxist” at the House GOP's "Commitment to America" agenda rollout. The Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) was listening to the audience members’ concerns and spoke at the rally in a suburb of Pittsburg. The plan, titled “Commitment to America,” echoes the prior Republican plan of a similar name, “Contract with America,” that was introduced by Newt Gingrich in 1994. The plan has 4 pillars of focus: economy, safety, freedom, and government accountability. The plan is designed to show what the political agenda would be for the House Republicans if they were to regain control of the House in November.

AUDIENCE MEMBER: “There are many other public education issues concerning parents like myself. The slow creep of Critical Race Theory, diversity, equity and inclusion, gender identity, and allowing biological boys to enter girls’ spaces and sports. Now, we have SEL, which is social emotional learning. It’s indoctrination disguised as programs like kindness initiatives or anti-bullying programs or diversity projects. These are all Marxist style programs targeting our children.”
