TV personality Whoopi Goldberg got into a heated debate on abortion rights with former President Trump’s Communications Director Alyssa Farah during an episode of “The View.”
A woman's right to choose to have an abortion resurfaced as a top political and cultural topic in the wake of the leaked Supreme Court draft opinion signaling that the Court would overturn the 1973 landmark court case that established a woman’s constitutional right to have an abortion. Democrats recently attempted to codify Roe v. Wade through legislation, but the vote failed in the Senate.
Goldberg launched into Farah after Farah posed the question, “At what point does a baby in the womb have rights?” Goldberg pointed out that what Farah thought that point was didn’t matter. "It’s your decision what you do with your body and how your family works," Goldberg said. “I don’t care what your religious beliefs are,” she added.
Farah defended her position, saying it was not based in religion; it was a philosophical debate. "This is all based in religion," Goldberg shot back.
The Supreme Court’s final ruling on Roe v. Wade is expected in the next couple of months.
