"We should not have women in combat roles": Meet Trump’s unorthodox choice for defense secretary, Fox's Pete Hegseth.

Donald Trump’s unorthodox choice for defense secretary is veteran, author, and Fox News host Pete Hegseth, but he doesn't have the traditional secretary of defense experience.

Here are some of his statements the future defense secretary has made as a media personality:"I'm straight up just saying we should not have women in combat roles," Hegseth said on the “Shawn Ryan Show" about America's military.

"The military kind of Bud-Lighted itself looking for a new constituency and they turned off the normal masculine men," the Fox News host said, referencing the controversy over the namesake beer brand partnering with a transgender influencer in 2023.

"I don't think I've washed my hands for 10 years," Hegseth said."You got to fire the chairman of the Joint Chiefs [of Staff]," Hegseth said, which could preview his actions as defense secretary should the Senate confirm him, "But any general that was involved — general, admiral, whatever — that was involved in any of the DEI, woke shit has gotta go."
