Nathan Clark, the grieving father of Aiden Clark, is urging Donald Trump to apologize for using his 11-year-old son’s death for political gain.
On Tuesday, Clark gave an emotional speech at the Springfield, Ohio commission hearing, blasting right-wing figures including Trump and JD Vance as “morally bankrupt” for mischaracterizing his son’s death to stoke fears about immigrants.“
They have spoken my son’s name and use his death for political gain,” Clark said. “This needs to stop now.”
Aiden Clark was killed last year after a Haitian immigrant’s vehicle crashed into the school bus he was riding. The Trump campaign and Vance posted on social media about the 11-year-old’s death to attack the Biden-Harris administration’s immigration policy as a danger to Americans. They have also promoted a false and racist claim that Haitian immigrants in Springfield have stolen and eaten pets.
Clark condemned the hateful attacks directed toward the Haitian immigrants since his son’s death, and said he would listen to the politicians “one more time to hear their apologies.”
Spokespeople for Trump and Vance have not apologized for their rhetoric on Aiden Clark’s death, per the Washington Post.
