Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, via translator, calls for holding the UN Summit of the Future in Ukraine.
During his speech to the UN Security Council on Wednesday, August 24th, Volodymyr Zelenskyy suggested to the council to hold the Future Summit in Kyiv for this upcoming year. This comes after a war against Russia that has lasted for six months and counting. The President of Ukraine has been calling for peace and asking the UN Security Council to step in based on the fundamentals that were founded in 1945.
Here is what he said in his address to the United Nations Council: “That would be good and symbolic to have this UN Summit in Ukraine. It is on the territory of Ukraine that the world's future is decided; whether we will have a future at all. This is being decided also at this operation nuclear power plant, and in our Seaports, and in donbas. And in the Crimea, our independence, is your security.”
