Donald Trump, while speaking in Detroit, said the “whole country will end up being like Detroit” if Vice President Kamala Harris becomes president.
“I don’t think anything that we’re talking about today is high on her list,” Trump said to the Detroit Economic Club Thursday afternoon, taking a hit at his opponent.
“The whole country is going to be like — you want to know the truth? It’ll be like Detroit,” the former president continued. “Our whole country will end up being like Detroit if she’s your president. You’re going to have a mess on your hands.”
“She destroyed San Francisco. She destroyed, along with New-scum, California, and we’re not going to let her do that to this country,” Trump added. “We’re not going to let it happen.”
New-scum is Trump’s disparaging nickname for California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
The Republican presidential nominee has spoken negatively about cities before, reportedly calling Milwaukee “horrible” behind closed doors to Republican members of Congress weeks before the city was set to host the Republican National Convention this summer. However, he publicly told Wisconsin voters “I love Milwaukee” after the remark made headlines.
