U.S. Border Czar Tom Homan responded to Selena Gomez’s tearful Instagram video posted Monday about President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown.
“All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry. I wish I could do something, but I can’t. I don’t know what to do,” the Mexican-American actress and singer said through sobs in the video regarding the ongoing ICE arrests of undocumented immigrants.
After receiving criticism, Gomez deleted the video and wrote on her Instagram Story, “Apparently it’s not ok to show empathy for people.” Gomez ultimately removed that message as well.
Trump’s border czar later went on cable news channels and responded to Gomez’s video.
“We’re going to do this job and we’re going to enforce the laws of this country. If they don’t like it, then go to Congress and change the law,” Homan said on Fox News.
“This is all for the good of this nation and we’re going to keep going. No apologies. We’re moving forward,” he added.
