Trump after court rules he can post smaller bond in civil fraud case: “I might spend a lot of money on my campaign."

Donald Trump on Monday said he “might spend a lot of money” on his campaign after a New York appeals court ruled he can post a smaller bond in his civil fraud case.

Trump, who spoke to the media after his hush money payment court hearing in New York, was asked by a reporter whether he would put money into his 2024 presidential campaign after an appellate court ruled he has ten days to pay a reduced bond of $175 million in the civil fraud case.

“First of all, it's none of your business, I mean, frankly. But I might. I might do that. I have the option,” Trump said to the reporter. “Why should I let a crooked judge make a decision to give $450 million? That allows me to spend very little money on my campaign, if I so choose. I'll be spending money on my campaign. I might spend a lot of money on my campaign. But I should have that option.”

Trump railed against the judge in his civil fraud case, Arthur Engoron, who last month ruled that the former president must pay a financial penalty of roughly $450 million to the state of New York, when including interest.

“A crooked judge shouldn't say, ‘We're going to have you post a bond,’ and take all of that money that I could be spending on a campaign or other things, if I want to do other things."
