Tim Walz gave his live reaction to Taylor Swift endorsing him and Kamala Harris after the ABC News presidential debate on Tuesday.
"With love and hope, Taylor Swift. Signed, 'Childless Cat Lady,'" MSNBC's Rachel Maddow said, during her interview with the Democratic vice presidential candidate, after she read Swift's Instagram post that announced her endorsement. "I have to get your response to that, Mr. Governor."
"I am incredibly grateful, first of all, to Taylor Swift," Walz said. "I say that also as a cat owner, a fellow cat owner."
"Look, Swifties, you heard it," Walz continued. "That was eloquent, and it was clear. And that's the type of courage we need in America to stand up."
The Minnesota governor added, "We've seen it out of those Republicans who were at the DNC. We've seen it out of women who would like to have their own personal lives kept personal, but are forced to go out there because they nearly died because they can't get abortion services in a pregnancy. And now you have somebody like Taylor Swift coming out and making that very clear."
Swift's signature "Childless Cat Lady" was a reference to JD Vance's widely criticized resurfaced comments from 2021. The pop star endorsed Harris for president on Instagram, where she has 283 million followers, shortly after the debate concluded, writing: "I'm voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them."
Walz called on the "Swifties" to get involved with the Harris-Walz campaign.
