“They are here legally”: Fox News’ Harris Faulkner fact-checks Trump on Springfield migrant lie.

Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner fact-checked one of Donald Trump’s lies about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, during an all-woman town hall that aired Wednesday on the channel.

“Springfield, Ohio, they have 50,000, 52,000 people, no problems, no real crime, beautiful community. They just dropped 30,000 illegal aliens in Springfield, Ohio, and it's become a different place,” Trump said during the town hall. “We're going to destroy our country. Our country is going to — it's horrible.”

“Actually, there’s more to that story. They are here legally, and there are programs that the current administration has put into place to do those flights,” Faulkner said. “We know the numbers have lessened at the border because of what [the Biden-Harris administration] is doing partially.”

Trump in recent months has pushed racist lies about Haitian immigrants in the Ohio city, arguing they came to the country illegally because of lax border restrictions and subsequently started to eat residents’ pets. But there is no evidence of pet-eating, and the Haitian immigrants who settled in Springfield were given permission to work there legally.
