Fifteen members of the Kennedys, one of the most famous families in Democratic Party history, endorsed Joe Biden for president Thursday — and one of them even appeared to take a veiled shot at the campaign of her brother, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

“President Biden has been a champion for all the rights and freedoms that my father and uncle stood for,” Kerry Kennedy, the daughter of Robert F. Kennedy and sister of current presidential candidate RFK Jr., said at a Biden 2024 campaign rally in Philadelphia with the president and family members. “That's why nearly every single grandchild of Joe and Rose Kennedy supports Joe Biden. That's right: The Kennedy family endorses Joe Biden for president.”

The endorsement was notable given that Kennedy’s siblings backed Biden over their brother; in addition to Kerry, Joseph, Rory, Kathleen, Maxwell, and Christopher are throwing their weight behind the Democratic nominee for president. About a dozen Kennedys appeared at the rally.

“We are here because we feel obliged to do all that we can,” Kerry said. “In 2024, there are only two candidates with any chance of winning the presidency. We know them well,” she said discussing Biden and Trump.

Some members of the family have denounced RFK Jr.’s candidacy, including him promoting conspiracy theories. For his part, Kennedy dismissed any concerns:

“I hear some of my family will be endorsing President Biden today,” he wrote on Twitter before the event. “We are divided in our opinions but united in our love for each other.”
