President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff CQ Brown on Friday attended the dignified transfer of three U.S. service members who were killed in Jordan last week in a drone strike by an Iran-backed militia group.
The U.S. officials bowed their heads and placed their hands on their hearts as the bodies of Sgt. William Rivers, 46, of Carrollton, Georgia; Specialist Kennedy Sanders, 24, of Waycross, Georgia; and Specialist Breonna Moffett, 23, of Savannah, Georgia, arrived at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.
The president and first lady, along with the secretary and chairman, met with the families of the service members ahead of the dignified transfer.
On Monday, Secretary Austin said, “The president and I will not tolerate attack on U.S. forces and we will take all necessary actions to defend the U.S. and our troops.” On Tuesday, President Biden told reporters that he had made a decision about how the U.S. would respond to the attack, but it’s not yet confirmed what he plans to do.
