Rev. Al Sharpton slams the police who failed to shut the patrol car door when taking Brianna Grier.

Reverend Al Sharpton, speaking at the funeral of Brianna Grier, slams the police who failed to shut the patrol car door when taking Brianna Grier into custody. Grier fell out of the back seat of a moving police car while in custody on July 15 in Hancock County, Georgia. She had been handcuffed, with her hands in front of her body, but not belted into the back seat. The door of the patrol car was not locked, and Grier suffered fatal head trauma when she Her family said she was experiencing a mental health crisis, and had called 911 for help. Grier was the mother of twin 3-year-old daughters.

SHARPTON: Your job wasn't to get angry, if she called your name. Your job wasn't to get defensive if she wrestled with you. Your job was to bring her for him and if you couldn't do the job, then you shouldn't have signed up for the job. So media gonna run around and ask Brianna's family, “Well, tell me about her, tell me about how she behaved.” No, ask the police about their behavior. Tell me how they grew up. Tell me how they passed the test. Tell me how come they were on the force that night and didn't know how to handle the situation. The parents called for help, they did not call to have a funeral for their daughter.
