Rep. Eric Burlison on Tuesday speculated that President Joe Biden could be jacked up on “Mountain Dew” to get through the presidential debate Thursday.
“Any patient … elderly individual, or someone that has dementia, they can find some moments of clarity, right? They can find moments throughout the day that they have energy,” the Missouri Republican said in an interview with Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo. “Trump's team should not underestimate Joe Biden and his team's ability to, you know, whether they're gonna jack him up on Mountain Dew or whatever it is.”
Republicans, including Donald Trump, Biden’s opponent Thursday at the Atlanta CNN debate, have in recent weeks frequently attacked Biden’s mental capacities, suggesting that the president cannot put “two sentences together.” They have also pushed conspiracy theories about Biden’s debate prep, suggesting the president will use a chemical boost to face Trump — a conspiracy theory that Bartiromo floated in the interview.
“I mean, it's pretty incredible that [Rep.] Ronny Jackson says Biden will have been at Camp David for a full week before the debate and that they're probably experimenting with getting doses right. Giving him medicine ahead of the debate,” Bartiromo said before she asked Burlison if he agreed.
