Fox News host Jesse Watters attempted to clarify a comment he made about Kamala Harris on “The Five” that drew intense criticism.
On Monday night, Watters said, “We don't know who she is, we don't know what she believes. She's going to get paralyzed in the Situation Room while the generals have their way with her.” The comment shocked the other hosts on the panel.
“Jesse Watters,” fellow host Dana Perino scolded.
“Jesse, I don't like that,” said Jeanine Pirro, who has a history of making incendiary comments herself. “Take it back,” Pirro demanded.
The moment also circulated widely online, drawing disgust and outrage.
On Tuesday night, Watters briefly addressed his remark on the show.
“There’s been some attention to comments I made on the show yesterday about VP Harris. People are misconstruing my comments to mean something inappropriate. I wasn’t suggesting anything of a sexual nature,” Watters said at the end of the opening segment before a commercial break. “I was expressing my opinion that Vice President Harris’ current leadership style could be an issue if elected.”
