MTG says she will push for vote to vacate Speaker but “there’s not a time limit”: “I am saying the clock has started.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) insisted her motion to vacate against Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is not an empty threat, but said “there’s not a time limit on this.”

While speaking to reporters Friday after filing the motion against the Speaker for pushing a $1.2 trillion spending package deal to avert a government shutdown through the House of Representatives with majority Democrat support, the Georgia Republican said, “I filed the motion to vacate today but it’s more of a warning and a pink slip.”

CNN’s Manu Raju followed up with the congresswoman, asking her, “If it’s a warning, does that mean that you’re not going to go through and force this vote?”

“No, I will,” she responded. “There’s not a time limit on this. It doesn’t have to be forced and throw the House into chaos.”

“But I’m not saying that it won’t happen in two weeks or it won’t happen in a month or who knows when,” Greene continued. “But I am saying the clock has started. It’s time for our conference to choose a new Speaker.”
