Matt Schlapp and Jim Jordan joke about Fulton County DA Fani Willis at CPAC: “Did you hear from her boyfriend?”

American Conservative Union chair Matt Schlapp and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) cracked jokes about Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and her romantic life Friday on stage at CPAC.

“I’m not sure if Jimmy Kimmel understood what the title of this conversation is: ‘Whatchu Talkin Bout, Willis?’ Fani Willis,” Schlapp said, kicking things off.

“Did she get back to you today?” Schlapp then asked the House Judiciary Committee chair, referring to Jordan subpoenaing Willis for documents over a potential misuse of grant money — an escalation of an ongoing fight between the Trump loyalist and the DA, whose office is prosecuting the former president in Georgia’s election interference case.

“Yeah, we subpoenaed her — not yet. I just talked to our staff,” Jordan replied.

“Wait, is she supposed to get back to you today?” Schlapp followed up.

“Yeah, she’s supposed to get documents to us,” the Ohio Republican said.

“Well, did you hear from her boyfriend?” Schlapp joked, inducing laughter from the crowd.

“We haven’t,” Jordan responded, smiling. “I was talking about this in the office and I said ‘Fani Wade,’ like a Freudian slip. You know, like Fani Willis and Nathan Wade.”

Jordan was referring to a prior personal relationship between Willis and the prosecutor she hired to lead the Trump investigation — which is now at the center of an effort to disqualify them both from the case.
