Marc Short, Vice President Mike Pence's former chief of staff, confirms he appeared under subpoena before the federal grand jury investigating the assault on the Capitol on January 6. In a statement on CNN, he said: “I can confirm that I did receive a subpoena for the Federal grand jury and I complied with the subpoena but under advice of counsel. I really can't say much more than that. That was my only appearance before the grand jury. Not going to comment on what others on the team have had to testify or not regarding subpoenas and what they've testified to.”
Short is the highest-ranking official known to have testified as part of the investigations. Trump advisor Steve Bannon was found guilty of contempt of Congress earlier in the week for refusing to comply with the subpoeana and testify. He faces jail time, but has said that he intends to appeal the decision.
