Law enforcement on Monday afternoon entered an on-campus encampment in support of Gaza at the University of Texas at Austin and took someone into custody.

“We're seeing officers starting to try to break their way," CNN Senior National Correspondent Ed Lavandera said, describing the scene. “Officers there breaking away the tables and starting to make their way inside the encampment.”

Lavendera said the protesters were continuing to lock arms despite the police disruption.

“We've seen here over the last hours that many of the organizers in this group were urging people to stand on the edge of the encampment and to lock arms to be able to keep officers and anyone else from getting inside the circle,” Lavendera said. “But now it appears that it's the state troopers that are setting up the barrier around that is allowing local police officers to get inside there and they're starting to break away the tables that were set up here.”

Texas state police in riot gear reportedly arrested at least six people at the university.

This comes as law enforcement have arrested hundreds of students nationwide at various colleges at similar on-campus demonstrations.
