"[JD] is efficient. In one sentence, he insulted women, Black people, and Jewish people": Gov. Whitmer roasts JD Vance.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Monday said she had "one good thing" to say about Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance:

"Now, my grandma always said I needed to find at least one good thing about every person. And so, I'll give JD this: He is efficient. In one sentence, he insulted women, Black people, and Jewish people," Whitmer, a Democrat, said at a rally for Vice President Kamala Harris. "That's efficient. And that's all I got."

Whitmer, and other Democrats who are considered potential candidates to be Harris’ running mate, have made the rounds in the past week to pounce on Donald Trump and Vance, particularly previous comments Vance made that mocked "childless cat ladies." Vance has defended his comments, claiming they were sarcastic while saying he was making a broader point that the Democratic Party does not support parents and wants Americans to not have kids. Democrats have ripped his rhetoric, arguing he was painting a broad brush to shame scores of women.

"Trump and Vance want to take us backwards, but we're not going back," Whitmer said at the rally. "Our response to them is simple: Hell no."
