“I’m ready to go”: DA Fani Willis takes the stand in Georgia disqualification case after initially contesting subpoena.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis dramatically took the stand during a Georgia court hearing focused on her relationship with Nathan Wade, the prosecutor she hired to lead her election interference case against Donald Trump.

The hearing is examining the details of Willis’ relationship with Wade as defendants seek to disqualify her from prosecuting the former president and his allies.

Willis, who initially contested a subpoena to appear, entered the courtroom during proceedings wearing a hot pink suit.

“We need her in here to go over all of this and to explain exactly what happened. We would ask the court that the court allow Ms. Willis to be called and interrogated on the event,” said Craig Gillen, an attorney for one of Trump’s co-defendants.

“I would too, Your Honor,” Willis interjected from the corner of the room, where she had been standing.

“Ms. Cross, I don’t know if you want to speak with Ms. Willis now. It’s sounding like maybe they’re withdrawing the objection to the motion,” the judge said, addressing Anna Cross, a lawyer for the district attorney's office. “Or does Ms. Willis want to take the lead here?”

“We’ll withdraw the motion to cross Ms. Willis,” Cross said.

“I’m ready to go,” Willis told the judge.
