“If you want to take it outside…”: Rep. Nancy Mace challenges Rep. Jasmine Crockett at House hearing.

Well, that struck a nerve.

Republican Rep. Nancy Mace challenged Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett to “take it outside” during a verbal altercation at a House Oversight Committee hearing Tuesday.

The fight broke out during discussions about civil and transgender rights. Mace, a vocal opponent against transgender participation in women’s sports, has called transgender people “mentally ill” and successfully pushed for trans bathroom restrictions in the House.

“I can see that somebody’s campaign coffers really are struggling right now. So, she gonna keep saying ‘trans, trans, trans’ so that people will feel threatened. And, chile, listen,” Crockett said, referring to Mace.

“I am no child, do not call me a child,” Mace shot back.

“If you want to take it outside, we can do that,” the Republican added.

Committee Chair James Comer, a Republican, ruled that Mace’s apparent threat did not go against committee rules because it could have meant that she wanted to “go outside and have a cup of coffee or have a cup of beer.”

“Let me be clear: I wanted to take the conversation off the floor to have a more constructive conversation, not to fight. At no point was there any intention of causing harm to anyone,” Mace wrote on X after the incident.
