House Speaker Pelosi: “There are those in the [GOP] that think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.” House Speaker Pelosi is responding to Sen. Lindsay Graham’s recently proposed 15 week nationwide abortion ban. The proposed legislation appears to go against the rest of the GOP causing a rift in the Republican Party. Traditionally, the GOP has been very adamant about states choosing their own abortion legislation, with the repeal of Roe v. Wade, leading to intensely strict anti-abortion legislation across the nation.
HOUSE MAJ. SPEAKER PELOSI: “I think what you're seeing there is a conflict within the Republican party. There are those in the party that think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before. And these people are in defiance of that, right? They’re in defiance of that, because they're saying, whatever they're saying about it. So that's, that's what you're seeing there. But we are united in our support for women's right to choose.”
