Denouncing campus protests, House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) compared Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) to Hamas militants Tuesday.
“Our House Republican Conference is here today to deliver a message to the pro-terrorist antisemites taking over our college campuses. We’re here to deliver a message to the university administrators who have chosen to be complicit in these movements for hate, rather than taking action. And we’re here to deliver a message to Hamas, Iran, and members of ‘The Squad,’ including my Minnesota colleague Ilhan Omar, who have all endorsed these antisemitic protests, that enough is enough,” Emmer said at a House Republican news conference about antisemitism.
“Accountability is here,” Emmer continued. “Our college campuses should never be breeding grounds for antisemitism.”
At the same news conference, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) officially called on Columbia president Minouche Shafik to step down amid major unrest at the university, “After I met with the president, Shafik, it was clear that she has lost control of her campus and she needs to step down.”
