Herschel Walker (R) on student debt: “I have enough problems paying my own debt, now I gotta pay somebody else’s debt.”

While on the campaign trail, Georgia Republican Senate nominee Hershel Walker criticized President Biden’s recent actions to decrease student loan debt. President Biden recently announced a student loan forgiveness plan that gives $10,000 in student loan forgiveness to those making under $125,000 a year and $20,000 in student loan forgiveness to those who received Pell Grants. Student loan debt has been an increasing crisis in America with over 45 million people in student loan debt, totaling around $1.6 trillion of debt.

WALKER: “Have y’all signed a note to pay peoples college loans? And can you believe that, now we got to pay for other peoples college loans. I have enough problems paying my own debt and now I got to pay somebody else’s debt. I didn’t even sign for it? And not only that debt is $400 billion dollars. $400 billion dollars. That is a lot of money and now you sign, sign your own. He said he looks forward to doing it.”
