Rep. Tim Burchett on Thursday was corrected on how to pronounce Vice President Kamala Harris' first name.
"Congressman, the vice president pronounces her first name, 'KA-muh-luh,'" CSPAN host Greta Brawner said. "You mispronounce it. Do you do that on purpose?"
"No, ma'am," the Republican congressman from Tennessee said. "I don't know how she pronounces it. This is the first time anybody's ever told me that."
Burchett previously referred to Harris as a "DEI hire." Burchett later expressed some regret for the comment, telling Laura Coates on her SiriusXM program, “Do I wish I’d said it? No, but it was the truth.”
"How did I say it?" Burchett asked.
"'Ka-MAH-luh.' And it's 'KA-muh-luh,'" Brawner responded.
"Well, my last name's Burchett, and I dare say nobody's ever —[Fox News'] Sean Hannity didn't even get my name right when I was on there, and I don't pitch a fit," Burchett said.
"So, it's 'KA-muh-luh'?" Burchett continued. "OK, then I stand corrected."
